For all the cycling that goes on in Hampton Roads, randoneurring is avery tinyminimalscantrare(OK, virtually non-existent)portion of the scene. This seems to be in contrast with the very active DC and NC groups.
I cannot tell you how envious I am when I get these damn emails announcing DC weekend rides like “The Devil's Daughter”. Worse are those from NC: Get ‘er Dunn, Benson Mule Pull, Carthage Coffee Run, or the cause of my greatest jealousy, the “Howling Grits” populaire.
When I started, I didn’t think we had ANY perm around here. We actually did have Ron’s Nottoway Ramble, but I didn’t recognize the address as being nearby. Even when I put together mine, I couldn’t come up with a clever name. (Hence the attention grabbing “Eastern Shore” Permanent. “Well, whoop-dee-do”.)
So, it was with great anticipation that 3 of us took on Ron’s new Wakefield 200k (clever name to follow)
We were familiar with the terrain from his nearby route out of Windsor, but this one required another 45 minutes of driving westward.
Although billed as having a bit more climbing than Windsor, it all comes in gentle (albeit frequent) rollers with no long climbs that can break up a group.
In spite of the heat in the afternoon, we had a great time on a well thought out and scenic 200k. With the start only 35 miles off of I-95, this could potentially be available to riders from NC and the DC group.

"Pork Chop Gizzard" permanent: I expect you and Ron will be getting an inquiry from the NC master of rando food eateries, JP, any moment now.
How about "Wonderfully Clean Lawrenceville Toilet". Glad you, Kim and Pascal enjoyed my new permanent.
Wakefield is only 15 minutes west of Windsor. Kim
